Membership means you’re part of the action. Whether it’s stepping into the spotlight, painting a backdrop, stitching a costume, or cueing the lights — there’s a role for everyone, and new productions are always in the pipeline.

Enjoy priority booking for all performances and join fellow members at our lively social gatherings — from curtain call chats to mulled wine meetups.

You’ll get to meet friendly members who will make you feel very welcome and who are more than willing to offer the benefit of their experience if required!

At Chipstead Players, every production is made possible not just by those on stage, but by the passionate community around it. For over 100 years, our players, crew, and supporters have kept live theatre thriving in the heart of Chipstead.

Whether you’re here to perform, volunteer, or simply support the arts, we thank you for becoming a part of our ongoing story.
As a reminder, here are some of the ways in which you can become more involved:

Acting

Tread the boards by auditioning and being cast in a play!

Costumes

Dress cast members for their parts, design and create costumes, head-dresses and so on for the stage; look after and add to the incredible wardrobe we have stored at the theatre.

Properties

Source or make props and manage them for use by the actors on stage – we have a well-stocked props store!

Set Design

Use your creative talents to help design our stunning stage sets.

Theatre Management

There is a large group of members who run things behind the scenes. You could assist our PR team, help run the website, direct a play or maybe join the team of people who read plays before they are selected for production.

Lighting

Design and operate the stage lighting which enhances all our productions.

Sound

Assist play directors in choosing music and sound effects, create them if necessary and operate the computer-based control board.

Set Dressing

Add furniture and decorative touches to give the sets an authentic and interesting look.

Set Building

Help construct our sets in our own scenery workshop.

Maintenance

Assist with keeping our theatre building in tip-top order – a whole range of skills is needed, and you could help in whatever way you can!

Box Office

Help to run the Box Office at the theatre: it’s open during every performance. Show off or improve your computer skills!

Front of House

Get involved whenever there’s a show on: meet and greet our audiences, sell programmes and ice creams, run the bar or be in charge!
